Surfing Nicaragua in May
The month of May is usually a great time for a surf trip to South Nicaragua. Many people hesitate to travel to South Nicaragua in the months of May and June, because of the start of the rainy season. In reality, most days are sunny with scattered clouds. If it rains, it’s usually in the evenings or at night, for a limited period of time. The real rainy months are September and October.
Here are a few amazing pictures, all taken by traveller Patrice Blanchette (@jet.set.explore), who came to visit us last week at our surf camp in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua.
Sunsets at Playa Hermosa are simply memorable. This beach is just amazing to learn to surf on when the conditions are right. It’s hard to find so many good peaks on only one beach, with so few people in the water.
When it comes to choosing the after surf beer in Nicaragua, there aren’t that many choices: Toña or Victoria? They both are really refreshing and make sunsets on the beach even better.
Did you know some of our surf coaches in Nicaragua are part of the national surf team? Here’s Augusto Chamorro (@surfchamorro) proudly wearing his country’s rashguard going out for some waves on a sunny day at playa Maderas.
We believe not matter how beautiful a place is, the most important aspect of a trip is the people you share your travel experiences with.
Sunset at playa Maderas, Nicaragua. This is the beach that made us fall in love with Nicaragua. Ever wonder where Barefoot Surf Travel’s logo comes from? 😉
