Is this trip for me?
Am I too young / too old for this trip?
Guest Age
Most of our guests are in their 30s to 60s, but we have also welcomed older and younger guests who had a fantastic time! We strongly believe that age is just a number.
What matters most is that guests join us with the right intention: to focus on surfing and have fun. The minimum age to participate is 18 years old; however, we may accept younger guests if they are accompanied by an adult.
What surf experience do I need?
Surf Level
You can’t be “too inexperienced” for our Costa Rica and Nicaragua retreats. Approximately 20% of our guests have never touched a surfboard before attending. You must know how to swim to join a trip. For our Mentawai retreats, a minimum level of surfing experience is required (click here to learn more).
You can, however, be “too advanced” for our trips. They are designed for beginners and intermediates; therefore, we take guests to adapted and safe spots that match their skill level. If you are looking to perform advanced maneuvers or tackle heavy barrels, you may be too experienced for our retreats.
Lone travellers, groups of friends & couples.
Types of Guests
Yes, you can come if you are travelling alone. From the start, you will join a group of like-minded guests and share incredible experiences. Around 50% of our groups consist of lone travellers. We also welcome groups of friends. Groups of 2, 3, or 4 friends often join our surf coaching retreats. Couples are welcome as well.
