I grew up in Gerringong, Australia and have always been a water baby. When I was 10 years old, a family friend turned up at the house with a retro multicoloured surfboard he had picked up from a garage sale. I have been hooked on surfing ever since. Coming from a family that hadn’t surfed before, I joined the local Boardriders Club, which was super supportive in helping the young Groms in the area with their surfing.

Once I was catching waves on my own my dad would come down to the beach with his VCR camcorder and film my surfing sessions along with the other surfers in the water, we would then sit together and try and work out what I was doing wrong and what I could do better. This was super helpful with my progression.

I spent 8 years of my life doing surf competitions starting off on a shortboard but quickly moving onto Longboarding as I preferred the more relaxed vibe and scene. The best thing about competing was it allowed me to travel the world and surf some of the best waves with my mates who were the girls I competed against.

I started getting some good results at small events, so I moved my way up to state and national events. Right in the middle of one of my best competitive years, I broke my ankle badly in a surfing accident, which put me out of the water for 6 weeks very close to the upcoming State Titles. With much determination and rehab, I managed to hobble down the beach and win my first State Title and then a few weeks later, the Australian Title. Within two years, I achieved my next goal of qualifying and surfing in the World Longboard Titles, finishing with a 13th place.

I have always dreamed about travelling the world and surfing; in March 2019, I decided to head off solo with a one-way ticket to Bali. Whilst in Bali, I heard about Barefoot and it’s coaching program, so I decided to reach out to the boys. That was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I met both Alex and Gabriel Barefoot Co Founder’s in Bali and started working as a Head Surf Coach on their surf retreats in Bali. I have loved every minute of the trips from the epic waves the guests get to surf, the fantastic people we meet and, of course, witnessing the impressive progression from everyone throughout the trip.
